Why 57 Degrees?

A conventional mouse asks you to turn your palm down toward the desk. Doing that rotates the two bones of the forearm across each other and holds them there for as long as your hand is on the mouse. A vertical mouse rotates the whole hand toward the position it naturally sits in when you hold it out to shake someone’s hand, so the forearm bones sit closer to parallel. Logitech’s 57° figure describes how far the Lift’s body is tilted toward that orientation.

The practical consequences of that rotation:

  • Forearm orientation — the hand is rotated toward its neutral resting position rather than held palm-down
  • Hand position — the palm rests against the side of the shell instead of on top of a flat body
  • Thumb position — the thumb sits along a dedicated rest rather than curling around a low profile
  • Grip mechanics — movement comes more from the arm and shoulder and less from small wrist motions

Two honest caveats. 57° is not a universally ideal angle — it is the angle Logitech chose, and people differ in how much rotation suits them. And a vertical mouse does not prevent, treat or reduce the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome, RSI, tendinitis, wrist pain or nerve problems. What it changes is physical positioning. Anyone with symptoms should be talking to a clinician, not to a product page.

Hand Size Matters More Than Anything Else Here

Logitech positions the Lift specifically for small-to-medium hands, and that is not marketing softness — it is the single most important line on the specification sheet. A mouse can be excellently designed and still be a poor fit for a particular hand, and on a vertical mouse the consequences are larger than on a flat one, because the shape is doing the ergonomic work.

Logitech Lift Dimensions

Logitech publishes 108 mm × 70 mm × 71 mm at 125 g. A note for anyone cross-checking: the consumer support page and the business data sheet label those three axes differently — one calls 108 mm the height, the other calls it the length — but the three figures themselves agree, so the physical object is the same either way.

What matters is what that compact footprint means in use. It keeps the mouse light enough to reposition without effort, it takes up less of a shallow desk or a laptop-and-mouse travel setup, and it puts the buttons within reach of shorter fingers. The same compactness is exactly what makes it wrong for a large hand: there is simply not enough shell to support the palm.

Grip and Thumb Rest

The shape is a steeply angled shell with a contoured thumb rest along the lower side, the two main buttons on the upper face, the scroll wheel between them and the back and forward buttons placed above the thumb. The design intent is that the hand drapes over the shell rather than gripping it, with the thumb supported rather than braced.

Owner-feedback patterns commonly emphasise two things about this shape: that the thumb rest is what makes the position sustainable rather than merely angled, and that the side-button placement takes a few days to become automatic. We have not held this mouse, so we are not going to tell you how the surface texture feels or whether the palm contact is comfortable — those are firsthand judgements, and this review does not have them to offer.

Buttons

Six buttons in total: left click, right click, scroll-wheel click, back and forward, and a middle button. Four of the six are customizable in Logi Options+. That is a deliberately modest count — enough for browser navigation and a couple of shortcuts, well short of the button banks on a power-user mouse.

The device-switching control sits underneath the mouse rather than on top, which is normal for this class and worth knowing if you switch between machines many times a day: it is a deliberate action, not a thumb tap. The middle button’s placement below the wheel is the layout point owners most often mention adapting to.

SmartWheel

SmartWheel is Logitech’s adaptive scrolling for this class of mouse: a gentle turn gives precise line-by-line scrolling, while a firmer flick moves the page faster. The point is to cover both careful selection work and long documents without a mode switch.

It is not the same mechanism as the MagSpeed wheel on the MX Master line, which uses an electromagnetic ratchet that can spin freely through very long documents, and it has no horizontal scroll wheel at all. Tracking and DPI

The sensor is Logitech Advanced Optical Tracking at 400–4,000 DPI, with a nominal value of 1,000 DPI. In practice DPI decides how far the cursor travels for a given hand movement: higher settings cross a large or high-resolution display with less arm motion, lower settings give finer control for detailed selection.

For multi-monitor work or a high-resolution panel, having headroom above the 1,000 DPI default is genuinely useful — it is what keeps you from sweeping the mouse across the whole desk to reach the far screen. But maximum DPI is not a measure of ergonomic quality, and a 4,000 DPI ceiling is not a reason to choose one office mouse over another. The simpler option for any computer or tablet with Bluetooth built in. It uses no USB port at all, which matters on a laptop with two ports, and it is the route most people will take at home.

Logi Bolt receiver

The included Bolt receiver is the alternative for machines without Bluetooth, and the option many workplaces standardize on. One practical constraint: the receiver is USB-A, so a laptop with only USB-C ports needs an adapter or a hub — or you skip it and pair over Bluetooth. The drawback

Where quieter clicking genuinely helps is narrower than the marketing suggests: shared offices, video calls where the microphone is close to the desk, home offices in shared rooms, and libraries or other quiet workspaces. If none of those describes your desk, treat it as a minor bonus rather than a purchasing criterion.

Build Quality

Logitech’s technical documentation lists durability figures for the buttons and the PTFE feet on this family. Those are manufacturer test specifications, not independent results, and we treat them as such rather than presenting them as durability findings. The parts worth thinking about on any mouse you will use daily are the primary switches, the scroll wheel, the shell and its rubberized surfaces, the feet, and the battery compartment door — the last of which matters more on an AA mouse, because it is the part you will actually open.

The Lift for Office Work

This is the use case the product is built around: browsing, email, word processing, spreadsheets, research, general productivity and multi-monitor work. In this context the vertical shape matters differently from the sensor specifications — nobody is limited by 4,000 DPI while writing email, but a great many people are affected by how their forearm sits for six hours.
